On July 15, 2024, EchoStar Corporation marked the start of operations at the Open RAN Center for Integration and Deployment (ORCID) at its state-of-the-art data center in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

NTIA Administrator Alan Davidson and Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund Director Amanda Toman joined EchoStar Co-Founder and Chairman Charlie Ergen, EchoStar CEO Hamid Akhavan, EVP and Chief Network Officer Marc Rouanne and other stakeholders to announce a $50 million grant to the ORCID consortium to establish an Open RAN testing center at a DISH Network (a wholly-owned subsidiary of EchoStar) facility in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
